The Ram 1500 EV has 1 major advantage over other electric trucks
Trucks aren’t just diesel and gasoline anymore. The Ram 1500 pickup goes electric! The 2024 Ram 1500 EV is finally here, and it has a pretty significant advantage over similar electric trucks. What can the all-electric Ram 1500 do that other trucks can’t?
Ram 1500 EV Truck Won’t Arrive Until 2024
It probably won’t be surprising if the Ram 1500 pickup gets an electric version. Almost every major automaker has announced plans for an electric truck to follow the traditional gas-powered versions. Inside electric vehicles says Ram has confirmed its first all-electric pickup truck will arrive in 2024 but likely won’t be on dealer lots for another year.
Last week, Ram CEO Mike Koval confirmed the Ram 1500 EV concept at the New York International Auto Show. Ahead of the 2024 release, the company plans to reveal or preview the electric truck this year. Those on the Ram Real Talk Tour might get a glimpse of the EV even before that.
The Ram Real Talk Tour allows the automaker to talk to consumers about the needs of future vehicles. Ram wants to better understand the desires of its customers to design the next generation of trucks and minivans.

Koval told Automotive News that Ram has a master plan to give customers the right design for the future lineup. The Ram 1500 EV featured front LED strips and the glowing RAM logo in teaser images released last month. The rear end of the truck resembles, with illuminated taillights at either end of another illuminated logo.
There haven’t been many more revelations about the new electric truck to tease the market. Unfortunately, the Ram Electric Truck is slated for a much later release date. Electric trucks like the Ford F-150 Lightning and GMC Hummer EV Pickup will be on the market for two years (if all goes according to plan). The Chevrolet Silverado EV is expected to be produced in 2023, likely beating the Ram by another full year.
On the other hand, it gives Ram an edge that other electric trucks won’t have. It can adapt based on customer feedback by releasing the Ram 1500 EV after other trucks have been on the market for a while. Ram will learn people’s likes and dislikes and can change some things if necessary.
The 2022 Ram ProMaster delivery van will come before the electric truck
Because of these comments, the design of the electric Ram is not yet set in stone. The automaker has been attending auto shows over the past few months to decide the look and performance of the all-electric Ram 1500. It will use the same STLA Frame platform that other models will use in the future. This platform contains a battery from 159 kWh up to 200 kWh.
Ram also plans to launch the 2022 Ram ProMaster delivery van by the end of this year. While the Ram 1500 EV isn’t the brand’s first all-electric vehicle, it will still make up a big part of the lineup. Stellantis is targeting 100% electric vehicle sales in Europe and 50% in the United States by the end of the decade.
