Good fuel economy is not a feature of all trucks and SUVs. These three trucks and SUVs cost the most to fill up on gas, but it’s not all bad news. These full-size SUVs and pickup trucks still have plenty of room, all the technology and modern safety systems.

When consumer reports rated the 2022 Ford Expedition, the 16 mpg total was to be expected. This SUV has a tank capacity of 28.3 gallons and gets 453 miles per tank. That equates to about $119 to fill up, using $4.22 per gallon as the price. This price is subject to change. Consumer Reports rated the Ford SUV as performing well in the test drive and the owner satisfaction score was above average.

The Chevrolet Suburban is another SUV that costs the most to fill up with gas.

The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban definitely qualifies as a big SUV. With room for eight passengers and 16 mpg overall, expect this full-size SUV to be expensive to fill. It performed well in the Consumer Reports road test, and the predicted owner satisfaction score was above average. With a 28-gallon tank and 448 miles per tank, the Suburban costs around $118 to fill up.

You could pay over $100 to fill up the Nissan Titan

Fuel economy isn’t a big selling point for the full-size truck that is the 2022 Nissan Titan. Titan buyers don’t have high expectations when it comes to fuel economy, but it can tow enough to compensate. It offers a smooth, powerful engine and many standard safety features that similar trucks might not have. The Nissan pickup can also accommodate six passengers thanks to its bench seat. With a 26-gallon tank and a range of 416 miles, the cost per full tank is around $110.

Trucks that cost the most to refuel include the Ram 1500

According to Consumer Reports’ rankings, the 2022 Ram 1500 was the best full-size pickup truck this year. This full-size pickup managed to get 17 mpg overall, which was actually one of the highest options on this list. The 2022 Ram truck performed well in the road test and scored high for predicted owner satisfaction. With a 26 gallon tank and 416 miles per tank, it will cost around $100 to fill up.

Gas prices have slowly started to come down, which is good news for those who use full-size SUVs and pickup trucks. These trucks and SUVs that cost the most to fill might be on your shortlist for your next vehicle, but you might want to get a Costco or Sam’s Club membership card before you commit.
