Render attempts to preview Cadillac’s Sub-Lyriq electric crossover
Cadillac recently unveiled the more than $300,000 Celestiq electric sedan, the American luxury carmaker’s attempt to offer a rival to the world’s most exclusive sedans, like Rolls-Royce or Bentley. Beneath that is the much more accessible Lyriq (which starts at $62,990), but it won’t be the smallest EV to wear a Cadillac badge and a recent teaser from General Motors gave us a glimpse of what might look like an electric crossover sub-Lyriq Like.
GM Design shared the design sketch on Instagram without directly saying what it depicted. They don’t even say it’s a Cadillac, although it’s quite obvious if you compare the sketch to the Lyriq that it looks carved out of the same block, with the same family look and overall shape.
The as-yet-unnamed Cadillac small crossover will be roughly the same size as the Chevrolet Equinox EV, and it will be built on a version of the same platform, though it may have more performance and different specs, so the two will not be technically identical. sUS design analysis: the first 36 Cadillac Lyriqs have been delivered to customers In Q3ketch, the model previewed will certainly be a little sportier than the Lyriq, with a more aggressive shape and details than its big brother.
TopElectricSUV produced this render which attempts to preview the model, although we don’t think it will actually look like this. Frankly, it looks like a smaller Lyriq, and Cadillac won’t be going that route, as the aforementioned design sketch seems to suggest, even though said sketch doesn’t actually preview the production model.
If, however, Cadillac chooses to simply shrink the Lyriq and make minor changes to it to create the smaller model, well, that render is fine. And since it should be mechanically related to the Equinox EV, it will likely have similar proportions, wheelbase, battery size and level of interior space.
Let us know in the comments if you prefer the model to look more like the Lyriq or more like the rendering.
