Much-criticized Subaru Ascent makes Forbes list of 10 best 3-row SUVs

The 2022 Subaru Ascension came under heavy fire recently from Consumer Reports, and they just put the family hauler on their list of the ten least reliable cars for 2022. Forbes now picks the much-criticized 2022 Ascent as one of the ten best 7-passenger SUVs for 2022.
Forbes says Ascension is number seven among the ten best 3-row SUVs. They say it offers the best passenger experience in all three rows and solid cargo-carrying capability, with family attributes like list price, fuel economyasset-safety devices and road behavior are also taken into account.

Forbes ranks the Kia Telluride number one, followed by the Chevrolet Traverse, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Hyundai Palisade, Volkswagen Atlas, Ford Explorer, Subaru Ascent, Mazda CX-9, Honda Pilot and Kia Sorento.
Why Forbes chose the 2022 Subaru Ascent
About the Ascent, Forbes says it’s “reasonable, economical and well-executed, the Ascent offers a wagon version of the best aspects of the Subaru brand. While the cabin and cargo space are average and the interior furnishings hardly opulent, the Ascent’s cabin is neatly outfitted in the rear, with cupholders and connectivity galore. Disadvantage of the ascent
According to Forbes, “While its ride and handling are enjoyable, the Ascent’s main drawback is its powertrain, which feels quite peppy at low speeds but struggles to motivate the heavy crossover on the highway.”
Our point of view
We drove the Ascent in the high altitude colorado and had no problems even at 9000 feet. The 3-row family hauler had plenty of power on the highway and handled a high mountain pass with no problem.
Forbes states, “The Ascent is further distinguished by its standard all-wheel drive, an optional upgrade over most rivals, and its economy starting price of $33,970 with destination, which on this list is beaten only by the much smaller Kia Sorrento. .”

The base 2022 Subaru Ascent starts at $33,970 and Premium versions start at $36,470. The new Ascent Onyx Edition starts at $39,670. The top Limited starts at $41,270 and the top of the line Touring has a starting MSRP of $47,120. Price includes destination fee ($1,175).
