A Texas tornado meets its match
A Texas teenager inadvertently provided Chevrolet with the best publicity imaginable when he drove off in his aging but rugged Chevy pickup truck after it was knocked over and flipped over by a tornado. A local Chevrolet dealer returned the favor by giving him a new truck. Video footage of 16-year-old Riley Leon’s harrowing experience has gone viral.
The video shows the 2004 Chevy Silverado truck flipped on its side and hit like a toy. Then those same tornado winds put the truck back on its wheels, allowing Leon to pull away from the storm. He only suffered a few scratches.
Nicknamed “Tornado Boy” by his classmates at school, Leon has since been interviewed on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and other national outlets. With his product enjoying great publicity, Bruce Lowrie Chrevrolet in Fort Worth backed it up by giving Leon a 2022 Silverado.

It will be useful to you. Leon was returning home from a job interview at a Whataburger restaurant when he became entangled with the tornado. He got the job.
The slap heard around the world
Comedian Chris Rock has a penchant for upsetting personalities with jokes that very often go to the bone. The most dangerous he and other comedians present are impromptu, unscripted jokes that take advantage of a certain moment in time, like last Sunday’s Oscars presentation. Actor Will Smith got so offended by a joke aimed at his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her short “GI Jane” hair that he took the stage and slapped Rock hard in front of a global TV audience.
Smith, who went on to receive the Best Actor award, issued an apology including excluding Rock. (The two have since exchanged apologies, and Rock has so far refrained from filing an assault complaint with the police.)
Besides Smith’s use of violence, the biggest question in this incident is why he thought Jada Smith needed a man to violently intervene to defend her honor. She did not do it. If she had felt the need to put Rock in her place, she could have summoned her inner GI Jane, stepped up to grab the mic and declared to the world that she was suffering from hair loss, alopecia. But, unfortunately, the choice was never his.

Infowars host Alex Jones has offered to pay $120,000 per plaintiff to resolve a lawsuit brought by relatives of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims who say they defamed them by claiming the massacre of 2012 had never taken place. The families quickly dismissed the offer as a “transparent and desperate attempt by Jones to evade public trial under oath with his deceitful and lucrative campaign against plaintiffs and the memory of loved ones lost in Sandy Hook.”
A Connecticut judge found Jones liable for damages in November, and a trial is scheduled to determine how much he should pay the families. And since Jones evaded a deposition order, the judge plans to fine him $25,000 for every day he fails to show. (His lawyers are now saying he will sit down for a deposition.) This pain profiteer deserves to lose everything he has.

Chris Wallace was one of the few responsible voices at Fox News. Hopping on CNN this week, he once again showed that integrity by acknowledging that the dangerous misinformation spouted by Fox host Tucker Carlson was the last straw. Wallace, son of journalistic icon Mike Wallace of “60 Minutes” fame, had become somewhat iconic himself during his 18 years at Fox, where he cultivated a reputation for seriousness and poise in a outlet that has few of either these days.
Wallace said The New York Times the situation became intolerable after the November 2020 election — a time when Fox’s reaction to former President Donald Trump’s outrageous lies about voter fraud ranged from permitted silence to active participation. Wallace singled out Carlson, whose deranged documentary ‘Patriot Purge’ falsely claims that the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol by Trump supporters was actually a leftist “false flag” designed to blame them.
“I agree with the opinion…” Wallace said. “But when people start questioning the truth – Who won the 2020 election? Was January 6 an insurrection? “I found that unbearable. We can only hope.
Even on the ice, Ukrainians get a warm welcome
As Americans turned to March Madness, the World Figure Skating Championships took place in France, with a special spotlight on five skaters from Ukraine. The International Skating Union had banned skaters from Russia and Belarus following the unprovoked attack on Ukraine. The Chinese skaters then withdrew.
Even with American teams now poised to sweep the top spots, the focus was on Ukraine, with members of the public displaying Ukrainian colors and flags. Ukrainian pairs and ice dance teams performed their short programs but later withdrew from competition, having been unable to train properly due to the turmoil in their country.
The ice dance team of Sasha Nazarova and Maxim Nikitin skated in casual attire in their country’s colors, deliberately choosing not to wear the usual flashy costumes for skating competitions. Nikitin explained that they couldn’t hold on to their costumes as they fled the Russian invasion. But more importantly, he found it irreverent to dress in shiny clothes when both of their families were still in danger in Ukraine. Both returned after the competition.
