Cyclist killed in Modesto hit-and-run, 2 trucks possibly involved
MODESTO, Calif. (KTXL) — A cyclist was killed in a misdemeanor crash Saturday night and police say two trucks may be involved.
Modesto Police were called to the Lakewood Avenue accident between Briggsmore and Orangeburg Avenues.
When officers arrived they found Kenneth Earl Hutt, 62, seriously injured after being struck while riding his bicycle.
Despite rescue efforts, police said Hutt died of his injuries.
Witnesses told police that two vans drove away from the crash site.
The first truck was described as an older model red Toyota pickup truck and the second was a mid-2000s white Chevrolet Silverado.
Witnesses said the two trucks were traveling south on Lakewood Avenue when the accident happened, and both left turning east on Orangeburg Avenue.
Police said one or both trucks could have significant damage to the front end, including the windshield.
Police are looking for additional witnesses who may have seen the crash or area residents who have doorbells or surveillance cameras.
