Chevrolet Seeker is a new crossover for China

Meet the new Chevrolet Seeker. I find that rather interesting. The Chevrolet Seeker is a crossover for the Chinese car market. You don’t have to look very far for the manufacturer; it is, of course, the long-standing SAIC-GM joint venture.

In recent years, we really had to look for General Motors news in China. It was almost as if the whole company had gone into hiding. They’ve kind of disappeared in the flood of news from China’s new breed of electric vehicle makers.

With the new Chevrolet Seeker, that quest can come to an end. General Motors is always looking for new slots in which to drop new cars. The Chevrolet Seeker is a compact crossover, intended to pursue a younger audience looking for a fashionable new car.

Let’s find out the basic numbers of the new Chevrolet Seeker. In terms of size, it aspires to be perfectly average: 4537/1823/1564, with a wheelbase of 2700 millimeters and an empty weight of 1410 kilos.

The design is great, especially for a Chevy. Most Chevrolets are a bit dull these days, and that hurts General Motors in the Chinese market, so they’re really aiming for freshness with the Seeker. Well, it can hardly be called groundbreaking, but it is vying for the title of trendiest Chevrolet crossover made in China. It’s something, isn’t it?

Looking under the hood, there’s a 1.5-liter ‘LP5’ turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, manufactured locally at SAIC-GM. The engine has an output of 180 bhp, good for a claimed top speed of 205 kilometers per hour.

We searched the images of the trim elements and identified a sporty version with the RS badge on the grille and at the rear.

The new Chevrolet Seeker will be launched in the Chinese automotive market in the third quarter. We’re reaching out to Chevrolet for more information, and once our request has been met, we’ll endeavor to post an update to the Seeker immediately. You’ll find it here.
