Chevrolet Seeker Crossover officially debuts in China

In April this year, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released images of a new Chevrolet crossover for the Chinese market, and it looked great. The top-of-the-line Chevy – officially dubbed the Seeker – is now making its debut in the People’s Republic with an attractive design and plenty of good tech.
The vehicle you see in the gallery below matches the photos from earlier this year perfectly, showing a sharp crossover with a long hood and short overhangs. If it looks somewhat familiar to you sitting on its standard 18-inch wheels, that’s probably because there seem to be some shared influences with the current-generation Buick Envision, another SAIC-GM joint venture model. The two, however, don’t share much more than the outward appearance.

Inside the cabin, the Seeker shows off a high-tech cabin with a dual-screen layout featuring two 10.25-inch screens. The one in the middle of the dash is angled towards the driver at about nine degrees for better visibility and ergonomics. The infotainment system runs an all-new China-exclusive Xiaoxue operating system and supports over-the-air software updates and wireless Apple CarPlay. It’s nice to see that the display is surrounded by fine perforated leather for an overall more refined feel.
The front seats are electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated with adjustable lumbar support. A wireless phone charger and an electric tailgate further complete the extensive standard equipment. Customers can also order the new Seeker with Chevrolet’s premium Tune Dynamic audio system, which provides “an all-new aural experience for driver and passengers as they discover their own new roads.” This is the first product from SAIC-GM to be offered with this audio system.
The crossover is powered by a new 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the Ecotec family. The automaker doesn’t release specs for the mill, though we know it has a maximum output of 180 horsepower (134 kilowatts). The maximum speed the Seeker can reach with this motor is 127 miles per hour (205 kilometers per hour).
